[at some point in his day, taichi's on his way back toward the dorms from the cafeteria. he doesn't seem to have much of an agenda, looking at his phone as he walks and scrolling through the forum from the dorm heads.

he's focused on that and it means he isn't watching where he's going. luckily for kaine, he has enough sense of spacial awareness that he seems to notice out of his peripheral vision that she's there right before he has a chance to totally crash into her. it also seems to mean that he jumps back, startled, and drops his phone in the grass.]

[ Wish Kainé had the patience to read all those threads but she does not. She does try because it's not like she's stupid enough to ignore everything, but she is a jock and a goth more than a nerd or a prep.

She doesn't seem so surprised when he jumps back away from her but is a little surprised when he asks if she's okay. ]

I'm fine. You didn't touch me.

[ She has her sword in one of her hands. He can notice that easy, especially since she uses it to point at where he dropped his phone. ]

[at least kaine knows how to read i assume. but it's fine. why does everyone have swords? this seems to be a question he almost wnats to ask out loud because he's staring at it before he moves to grab his phone from the ground.]

Probably for the better. [a nod to the sword. he would prefer not to be accidentally skewered somehow.] ...weird question for you, was that the thing that was waiting for you in your dorm?

I'm good enough to avoid skewering you, but yeah. It was there when I woke up here.

Right. [but okay.] And was it something you had with you before you woke up here? Back in your own world.

[ There's a subtle tilt of her head. ]

Was yours not?

No. It was something we gave away years ago, so it belongs to somebody else now. I'm not sure why I have it. So I've been asking around.

Well, Kainé isn't someone who thinks too deeply about many things, but... ]

Maybe because it was once yours? And this place doesn't care about time?

[ If time back home is stopped. ]

It hasn't been mine for...a really, really long time. And it wasn't even mine for long. But maybe. I hadn't thought of it as a time thing.

[like. that's actually a good point.]

[ She shrugs. That's as much thought as she can put into it. ]

It makes as much sense as only one thing to show up for us and not more. Whose is it now?

My sister's partner. We gave it to her six years ago.

That's the other thing though. Were you missing a bunch of stuff, too?

... Weird. But being here is weird.

[ She shakes her head. ]

I don't own a lot. There are a some things that I don't want to lose, though. .

"Weird" is definitely an understatement. [there's a slight grin at that though. but he gets it.]

...when I asked about some of the things that were missing, Chad seemed to think stuff like that was left at home, but that's impossible. Viola said she'd take a look and see if she could find out where they might've gone though if people told her what was missing. I'm thinking about emailing her tomorrow to ask her to look.

[ He says impossible, but is it? She knows nothing of Digimon. ]

Viola seems like she wants to help a lot. I don't know what a Dorm Head can do, but out of all of them, she seems like she'll try the most.

[ Or at least, she'll be the most wordy about trying.

Kainé also says Dorm Head like it's a foreign word. ]

I think they're all trying but in different ways. I don't want to shut any of them out in case they can be helpful with something else later, but for this kind of stuff she does seem the most helpful. I think dorm heads are just supposed to talk to us and try? But I don't know, I've never gone to a school with dorms before.

You're not the first person to tell me that. [hm. ] Well...if they really are supposed to be our resources for help or whatever, then that's fine. Last time this happened, we didn't see anybody with answers for weeks.

Last time I went to another world. [yes thank you taichi.]

Huh? So this isn't new to you at all. How did you go to another world?

[goalsides]

Well...the first time was an accident. Sort of. It was on purpose, but it wasn't something we did on purpose? A rift opened us and pulled all of us in from summer camp. When we got there, we didn't know how or where we were or how to get back. It took us months to go home.

[overshaded]

[ That's kind of confusing, how it was but wasn't on purpose. She's not hiding that she isn't completely following, but she got the most important thing. ]

Months, huh? Think that'll be the same way here?

[ she did not read the dorm heads talking about terms rip ]

According to the dormheads, we're here for a whole year. Four terms, terms are probably ten weeks each or something.

[so that sucks.]

[ She makes a face, something like a grimace. ]

That's a long time to be in a place like this, pretending at whatever the fuck this is supposed to be.

[ Even if she got explanations about degrees granting wishes and saw stuff about the Dorm Wars, it's hard to believe it in its entirety. ]

That's what I said. They keep saying this place is a real school and we all applied, but it's like nobody can actually prove it. No entrance exams, no applications, no stupid bear to ask.

So we have to decide if we're all going along with this or not, I guess.
