I don't know a lot about it, but I know my way around computers and stuff by now. I can try to explain some of it if it doesn't look familiar. You might have better luck than me though.
Maybe! The computers I've tried out so far have been pretty intuitive when it comes to operating them.
[and hey, they make it! rita looks like a kid in a candy shop.]
--Hey, they've got tools in here, too! Whole toolboxes full of 'em... and is that some kind of saw? [yep, it's a panel saw. rita's just flitting from place to place to admire what's in here.]
Pretty sure you wanna be careful with that. [please don't cut yourself apart, rita. but he follows her into the lab and seems to be browsing around, humming as he pokes through some tools and stopping at the 3d printer.]
There's a ton of stuff here we could use to make a few things. And maybe the laptops here would have been luck connecting us to a network somehow.
I know, I trust you more than most people with this stuff.
[but he nods.] You know how our phones are all connected to each other? That's a kind of network. Has anybody told you anything about the internet yet?
Yeah, exactly. [bless rita for being smart.] And since it can be accessed from anywhere, I've been wondering if there's something here that can access a different world. Maybe then we could contact somebody and see if that'll help us figure out what to do next.
[except, like, he doesn't get much further in his idea before rita is thrown into a memory. pazu this is so long i'm sorry a lot of it is just context and flipping back and forth but you can also skip to like ~1:30ish and stop at like 6:50 if you want to cut extra context.]

[PROBLEMS... she sighs.]
You're from a place kinda similar to this, right? Do you know much about the technology they've got here?

What the...
... Was that the internet?
[this is now her one and only first-hand impression of it. thanks taichi.]

Yeah...the inside of it, anyway. I don't think most people are supposed to go in there though.
[you think????]
