Wish I knew for sure. We can try taking them down without killing them, maybe beat some sense into them... but that won't necessarily prevent the story from taking hold of them again.

Could be both. That's the problem. We're gonna have to be careful if we're not sure yet. But...it's weird. I'm afraid of taking it so literal when the whole place is so focused on fighting in the first place.
