I still think it's a god of some sort. Magic. Whatever you want to call it. There's no information on a local deity that I could find... So who knows. But I imagine it's only going to keep getting worse from here.
It's something I'd thought about earlier when I was talking to Rita. And if it is some kind of deity, then we'll figure out how to find it and kick its ass.

There could be a way to communicate with it. If it functions like other deities, there should be a way to preform offerings and other rituals. But then again, this entire school could be part of a ritual.

Although Sakyou said he went to a different world a few days ago, so it's possible that the deity is in another realm and we cannot reach it.

But, I've only talked to Sakyou when he came back that night. He showed me Chad's file. Not much to gain from it, since so much of it was censored.
They showed all of them yesterday and I've got pictures of stuff if you want. But you're right. A lot of it was censored, but the notes written on them aren't exactly encouraging either.
It's more like...what're the chances of this world being the center of its own multiverse, and so every place people can be sent is connected to it and that means there's still something that can control their every move.
I think that's a bit more than what I can comprehend right now.

But from what we've seen this past two weeks... I don't think it'd surprise me if your theory turned out to be correct anyway. If they're being controlled though, why only during certain times and not all the time? Why bother controlling anyone at all?
...that's where I'm getting stuck, too. The only thing I can think of is that something specific needs to happen at certain times, and to make sure it happens correctly that's where people are being controlled or the environment's being controlled. We don't have any proof that the people killing each other are being controlled, but we know the campus is manipulated by some kind of power.
And anyway, you can't tell me you think anybody would willingly go into that arena to fight to the death without being control, can you?
Two people killed someone. Of course, I believe the majority would be unwilling to step foot into the arena, especially when faced with someone they had no motivation to kill. But that doesn't mean that there isn't anybody here with no conviction to kill at all.
Sure. But the point stands. Even the people who had conviction to kill likely wouldn't want to be caught or punished for being caught. It's like the school's way of reminding us that even if people do make their own choices here, it has the ultimate say in what happens.
I don't disagree. However, I do think that if there are multiple killers... One of them could climb into the arena without being coerced. That's all I'm saying. No one would suspect them if they played the part of unwilling executioner.
The bigger picture is that there is something drastically wrong with this world, and the longer we're here the more we're going to discover. Not to mention that there's a bigger reason why murder's happening at all.
My question is whether they're being coerced to kill, or doing it of their own free will. I agree that it isn't a coincidence, however... But that doesn't mean there still can't be private disputes that get out of hand.

Does that matter so much right now until we get details? It means either there's something big enough that's worth doing it at the risk of getting caught, or there's something dangerous enough that they feel they have to go along with it even at the risk of getting caught.
I sincerely doubt people are just going and killing people just because of unrelated fights. Hanayagi was planning to kill Tomoe before that Thursday, and it's likely that whoever killed Lan Wangji was planning this ahead of time, too. Everyone I've spoken to has said he wasn't exactly the type to pick fights and piss people off.
So. Pretty sure that rules out the private dispute thing.
