It's for dueling. [ wait, ] For a card game tournament. It was expected that I would have the Ra card in my deck, and since he was pretending to be me, he needed to prove that and use Ra.
[ furrowing his brow. hm. ]
He wasn't trying to frame me. He just needed to do what I asked him to. You have to understand, the person he was playing against was part of a group who have a personal problem with me playing in the tournament. My assistant was making it easier for me.
And these cards...have powers? [he's trying to understand.] I can see why somebody would cover for you and that makes way more sense. But what does that other person have against you anyway?
Only a select few have any sort of real ability. The rest are enhanced during the game using holograms...
Anyway, that other person stole something from me, and I wanted it back. They're under the impression that I'm in the wrong, when it was them all along. I've suffered greatly because of their selfish actions.
If you say so. [...he just scratches the back of his neck.]
That was about six years ago. Devimon was a digimon that was trying to find us to kill us. We'd been traveling for a while, so when we found this mansion we decided to take shelter for the night. Turns out the whole thing was fake just so Devimon could trap us when we least expected it.
Yeah, I was eleven. [just. casually.] We were what're known as Chosen Children. Kids with digimon partners that were kind of destined to save the digital world. Our partners had powers that eventually defeated him. And all of the other digimon that wanted to destroy the world, too.
[there's a little look that kind of says "i told you so."]
Digital monster. They're like...sentient creatures made of data but they have their own thoughts and wills and stuff. All of the creatures you saw in that memory were digimon.
Like a computer that can think for itself? That sounds very technologically advanced... We have holograms that can project images of monsters where I'm from, but they aren't sentient.
