It's close to that, yeah. We walked pretty much everywhere, except for the times our Digimon could help us fly or we had friends that would help us travel across the ocean. There were some villages and towns in different places that we visited the first time we were there. But for the most part a lot of Digimon lived on their own and survived by finding their own shelter and food and everything.
No different than us. They had everything set up and a way of living before we even got close to them. Sometimes it kinda felt like we were intruding, but a lot of them were nice and helped us out when they could.
