[he is barely going to wait for nier before jogging off, fully expecting him to follow. and actually, since he's expecting it and also because he's the type of idiot with stamina to run and talk simultaneously, he continues.]
It is, yeah, sure. But I also don't know if I could live without any of them, and I want to make sure the answer I pick is really the one that makes the most sense.
[so yeah, he actually has an answer but he keeps stalling on it. and also...] And also I'm not even sure what would align with the spring dorm at this point.
Yeah, pretty much. But there are some I want to answer less than others, and ones I don't have as strong of answers for. So...maybe love is the easiest.
They're all difficult to live without, but my answers for all the cards would still lead back to love. Sometimes it's that simple. [ He thinks he can talk about all of them without trouble, unlike Taichi, until he remembers something. ] ... The compassion card is a tough one to talk about. I wonder if people are avoiding it entirely.
[as someone who has been dodging the compassion card's question, he thinks nier might be right.]
People might think it's hard to talk about conflicts when they don't have a way to solve them. It's sort of funny that that's the question linked to compassion of all things.
If it's a conflict that can be solved, sure. But there are definitely some conflicts that the solution isn't something everybody agrees with don't you think?
[ me looking at them both dodging compassion like the plague ]
My little sister and my friends. Kind of obvious answer. [ Looks like they'll be lapping back. ] What about you? Doesn't have to be love. Any of the tasks are fine.
[both of them: i am in this picture and i do not like it.]
I'd say it's an obvious answer, yeah. [but only because:] That'd be my answer, too. Right down to my sister. If anything I'm glad time really is stopped just so she doesn't worry.
[this is common ground and also easy, so.]
Tell me about yours a little. The task doesn't say how much, but...[he's curious.]
You have a sister, too. While I'm glad about the time stopping, it also makes me uneasy. [ He doesn't dwell on it, though. ] A lot of us here seem to be older siblings. Kind of funny.
[ The Coincidence. Anyway, since Taichi wants to ask about his sister... ]
Her name is Yonah. She's very bright, curious, caring, and a little weird. Quite the extrovert, too. She would chat anyone up and if you caught her on a favorite topic, she would talk your ear off. We used to gather flowers together and make garlands. Sometimes, we'd visit the library together and pick out books to read before bedtime. I wasn't always home since I had to do odd jobs to buy her medication and keep us afloat, but she'd always write me letters every day.
... She's the only family I have.
[ Literal I could never live without this person. ]
[it is a weird coincidence, though there's a laugh when he describes his sister as a little weird. it sounds...sweet, actually, even if he frowns a little at the word medication because he can kind of figure out those implications.
also, really glad this is very present-tense and his sister is very much alive. that's awesome. that's good. he's nodding to show he's listening even as they're finishing up their laps.]
You guys sound really close. [which makes sense, given the whole "only family thing."] How old is she?
[suddenly i am less convinced she's alive i hate yoko taro. anyway, taichi tilts his head and kind of assumes it's something he shouldn't question, so there's a slow nod.]
A little older than yours. She's fourteen. Hikari's...way smarter and probably more mature than I am. [it's kind of a joke but also not.] She always wants to try her best and see the good in people. She's gotten better at sticking up for herself and actually speaking her mind, but when we were kids she used to go along with whatever everybody else wanted because she didn't want to cause problems.
She's always willing to put other people before herself, too. The minute anybody needs help, she's right there. There's...a lot I don't think we could've done without each other. I miss her, but I'm really glad she's not here.
[ NO TY SHE'S ALIVE it's just complicated. also, i know taichi is actually the younger sibling. ]
Younger siblings sometimes show they're a lot more mature than us. Not sure where they get it from? I've asked Yonah and she would giggle, then tell me it's a secret only little sisters know.
[ Nier thinks Yonah shows so much patience and understanding for her age. He isn't sure if he's capable if roles reversed. ]
Your sister sounds like a great kid with a bright future.
they slow down in their running, wandering toward the middle of the field with the ball as taichi ponders that. hikari's future is important to him, mostly the fact that she gets to have one at all. even if there are things that have changed.
coming here was really inconvenient for a handful of reasons, but he doesn't linger on that.]
You're probably right. All the more reason we have to work harder to get back to them. If time's stopped, neither of them can keep growing.
Nier grows quiet when Taichi shows his own worry about time being halted because that's what he's been thinking. While he's here, Yonah—are they living? They aren't dead, but are they alive? It's hard to think of your sibling stuck in time. ]
Yeah. [ ... ] Do you believe what they said about wishes?
[it was one thing in the digital world where time was moving at a 1 day to 1 minute ratio, but with it being fully stopped it's hard to say what that actually entails. he doesn't start the game yet, but he does kick the ball to nier for a few practice shots.]
I don't know yet. It sounds pretty suspicious to just be able to grant dozens of wishes just by coming here. But we don't know how this world works yet either. ...do you?

Cool. Let's get going.
[he is barely going to wait for nier before jogging off, fully expecting him to follow. and actually, since he's expecting it and also because he's the type of idiot with stamina to run and talk simultaneously, he continues.]
Did you see that task board this morning?
no subject
I did. It's unexpected. [ School is very feely? ] Picked your answer yet?
no subject
Not yet. Still thinking on it. You? [school is too feely and he doesn't like it much.]
no subject
Isn't this something you just pick with your gut? [ WHAT IS THINKING. ] Love is my answer.
no subject
It is, yeah, sure. But I also don't know if I could live without any of them, and I want to make sure the answer I pick is really the one that makes the most sense.
[so yeah, he actually has an answer but he keeps stalling on it. and also...] And also I'm not even sure what would align with the spring dorm at this point.
no subject
Whatever feels right to you, then. Does that mean you have answers for all of them?
[ INDECISIVE FUCKER ]
no subject
Yeah, pretty much. But there are some I want to answer less than others, and ones I don't have as strong of answers for. So...maybe love is the easiest.

Hashing it out with someone might help strengthen your weaker answers?
no subject
Is love the only one you have strong feelings on?

Might be two sides of the same coin kind of deal. Trying to resolve conflict at all means something, doesn't it?
no subject
If it's a conflict that can be solved, sure. But there are definitely some conflicts that the solution isn't something everybody agrees with don't you think?
no subject
Yeah. It's impossible for everyone to always agree on a solution, but sometimes that's the only choice. It's a tough place to be in...
no subject
Yeah. Seems that way. [and with that very briefly touched upon, he continues to jog.]
...who would you talk about if you were doing the love task?
no subject
