You know I kind of was, too? Especially after the field trips and what happened this week. It almost felt anticlimatic, but I guess the climax of the story was all of us splitting up to take care of things and kill the "villains."
Me either. It almost feels like we're just as clueless as when we first started, but...whatever. It's over, we can finally go back to...wherever we want. And we get a wish anyway.
It does...it's kind of crazy to think about. [but he shakes his head.] I've kind of thought about it, but...I'm not even sure what I'd ask for now. The things I would ask to change are things that shouldn't change, and...maybe there's some things I just need to make peace with and stop trying to think of how I could have fixed them all together.

But this brings into question how far back the wish can be put into play. If it can be implemented in the past, not doing so seems unjust to those who have suffered all this time, and it could avoid... Many things in specific that I would like to avoid.

Is it unjust of me to only go far back enough to save one man? Should I go all the way to the founding of our very kingdom? But that's a thousand years back and who knows what would become of the present.
I think...you should go back as far as you think is comfortable and don't worry so much about everybody in the past. Go back as far as you need to in order to help the present. Going back all the way to the founding of the kingdom sounds like it would change a lot of things, including how the kingdom is structured itself.
But I wouldn't worry about it being unjust, especially considering this shouldn't be possible at all.
It could be just like what we just did. Not really undoing anything, but just rewriting the ending. You know how mages are treated in your kingdom, and you know how you want them to be treated. I think using those two ideas together will give you a place to start.

It would just mean freedom. Not having to live in hiding, not being exiled or locked away or - tortured. No more Mageseekers, which puts my uncle out of a job, but I can't say that I care.
I wonder if the military would expand to make room for mages among the vanguard...?

So what if the wish was something about how you wish the kingdom was designed to allow mages to live a comfortable life as a vital part of the community with the opportunity for them to grow with the kingdom itself or live their lives peacefully? Something like that. It would mean changing whatever part of history meant that wish wouldn't work.
...I hate to suggest any kind of schooling, but what about something that includes mage education that would have taught the kingdom that mages now aren't actually bad people?
Your wish is yours to do whatever you want with it, Lux. So even if it's hard to imagine, it's worth a chance. It'll turn out fine, and it'll be something you know how to work with.
