Normally they can do a lot more than that, but yeah that's about right. It's the easiest way to get in touch with people who aren't in the same dorms and stuff.

Most phones let you make phone calls and actually talk to people, but for some reason these ones don't.

Yeah, but sometimes phone calls are a lot faster, or more convenient. I guess it's fine like this for now though.

Usually you'd have to wait for a letter to get to somebody. That can take ages.

I'm not saying it's not convenient, it's just that things can be even more convenient with other options.
