Kainé mentioned that she started to remember a friend of ours as a student of this school when she was there. [ Spooky. ] So I worry that it may be part of... Some kind of assimilation process.

...I remembered a teacher I had at my school back home, but I remembered him as a teacher here instead. The memory was kind of impossible, but while we were there I believed it was real.

So far, everyone who's disappeared has experienced some kind of memory alteration. That doesn't even count the kind of weird memory stuff and personality stuff that happens here to people.

This place is a nightmare. Sometimes, it feels like we have little control.

Considering we were brought here against our will, I'm not so sure how much control we ever had to begin with. This place wants to remind us that it can mess with our heads whenever it wants. [goodbye branches...]

It can make us think we've always meant to be here. It can take away our most important memories and replace them with a false life. It can change who we are as people. And we never know when it'll happen or why.

It's actually exactly what it means sometimes, Nier. [he doesn't seem bothered by that though.] I've been trying to get people to focus on themselves. It's hard to do that if they're focusing on me instead.
